What is Tag'n'Track Warehouse & Logistics Management?

Tag'n'Track Warehouse & Logistics Management is RFID software for tracking inventory and returnable items through warehouses and distribution networks. Tags on items, cartons or pallets are read automatically at docks, gates and shelves, so receiving, counts, picking and dispatch are verified without manual scanning, and stock levels stay accurate in real time. It runs on the Tag'n'Track Platform and works alongside your WMS and ERP.

The challenge

Stock figures you cannot trust

System counts drift from what is on the shelves, so orders fail and safety stock grows.

Slow, disruptive counts

Barcode cycle counts take days, need extra staff and are out of date when they finish.

Errors at the dock

Wrong or short shipments are found by the customer, not before the truck leaves.

Lost returnable items

Pallets, crates, cages and containers disappear between sites, customers and suppliers.

How it works

Four steps from a tagged pallet to an automatic action.

Step 1

Tag

Items, cartons or pallets are tagged at receiving or by the supplier, encoded with SKU, batch and expiry data where needed.

Step 2

Capture

Fixed readers at dock doors and gates, handheld readers and phones record stock as it moves, with no line of sight needed.

Step 3

Track

Quantities and locations update in real time across zones, warehouses and vehicles on the road.

Step 4

Act

Rules flag short or wrong shipments, low stock and overdue returnables, and update your WMS or ERP automatically.

Key features

Control stock and movements from the dock door to the customer.

Automated receiving

Inbound pallets and cartons are read at the dock and checked against the purchase order or advance shipping notice.

Discrepancies flagged on arrival.

Put-away and locations

Record where stock is stored by zone, aisle and bin, and see the exact location of any item.

Find stock in seconds.

Fast RFID stock counts

Count a whole aisle with a handheld reader instead of scanning item by item, as often as you need.

Counts without stopping work.

Picking and dispatch checks

Guide picking to the right location, then verify every order at the dock door before it leaves.

Right items, right customer.

Returnable item tracking

Follow pallets, crates, roll cages and containers between sites, customers and suppliers, with balances per partner.

Fewer lost returnables.

Shipments on the road

GPS trackers and IoT sensors follow shipments in transit, including temperature for cold chain goods.

Visibility beyond the warehouse.

What you gain

  • Stock figures that match the shelves, updated as items move.
  • Faster receiving and counts, without extra staff or downtime.
  • Fewer dispatch errors, caught at the dock instead of by the customer.
  • Returnable items kept in circulation, with clear balances per partner.

What the research shows

Independent industry findings, not Tag'n'Track results.

Inventory accuracy

In a study by the Auburn University RFID Lab with GS1 US, RFID raised inventory accuracy from 63% to 95% (2018).

Industry adoption

58% of warehouse decision-makers plan to deploy RFID by 2028 (Zebra Warehousing Vision Study, 2023).

Typical use cases

Typical scenarios to show how the solution is used. These are illustrations, not customer case studies.

Cross-docking

Inbound pallets are verified at the dock and routed straight to outbound lanes, with every movement recorded.

Cold chain storage

Chilled and frozen stock is tracked by batch and expiry, with temperature sensors alerting the team to any excursion.

Third-party logistics

A 3PL keeps each client's stock separate and gives clients a live view of their inventory.

Returnable crates and pallets

A distributor tracks crates sent to stores and suppliers and sees which partners hold overdue items.

Integrations

Connect inventory events to your systems through REST APIs and connectors. Multi-step workflows across systems are available with the Process Automation add-on.

WMS

SAP EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Oracle WMS and others: receipts, locations and shipment confirmations in sync.

ERP

SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics: stock levels, purchase orders and sales orders.

TMS

Transport management systems for shipment status and proof of delivery.

E-commerce and order systems

Online stores and marketplaces through APIs, so stock shown to customers is accurate.

Partners and EDI

Exchange shipping notices and receipts with suppliers, customers and logistics partners.

BI and reporting

Power BI, Tableau and other tools for stock, throughput and returnables dashboards.

Hardware that fits your site, your process and your budget

Tag'n'Track works with RFID, NFC, QR codes, barcodes, IoT sensors and GPS from all leading manufacturers, so you are never tied to one brand. Every recommendation is based on your requirements, a site survey and your budget.

Typical choices: carton and pallet labels, rugged tags for returnables, fixed readers and portals at dock doors, handheld readers, label printers, temperature sensors and GPS trackers.

Start simple, grow to full automation. Begin with handheld readers in one area, prove the value, then add fixed readers, gates and sensors step by step.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with our existing WMS?

Yes. Tag'n'Track sends RFID events to your WMS or ERP through APIs, so your current system stays in charge of orders and stock.

Should we tag items, cartons or pallets?

It depends on value and process. High-value items are often tagged individually, other stock by carton or pallet. A site survey sets the right mix.

Does RFID work near metal racks and liquids?

Yes, with the right tags and reader placement. The site survey tests performance in your racking and with your products.

Can it work in cold storage?

Yes. Tags and readers rated for chilled and frozen areas are available, and temperature sensors can monitor storage conditions.

Can we track shipments after they leave?

Yes. GPS trackers and sensors follow shipments in transit, and dispatch and delivery events are recorded.

Do we need the mobile app?

No. Everything works in a web browser. For scanning on the floor, offline work and instant alerts, we recommend the Mobile App add-on.
